Certified Nursing Assistant

Certified nursing assistant jobs are not for everyone.  This position requires a unique person capable of working under a variety of conditions and in a dynamic environment.  The duties are not easy.  The daily demands of the job calls for a person with a high degree of compassion and care.  Likewise, the ideal person should have a deep desire to help people in need.  The typical day in the life a nurse assistant can be described as dealing with individuals with all sorts of conditions.

Some of these conditions may stem from a person’s unique medical condition due to illness or by aging itself.  Each person in need of CNA care can sometimes come across as rather demanding.  This is very typical of the elderly.  Younger persons may find themselves in desperate need of your attention brought on by a sudden rise of pain, or just as a result of having gone through a series of unpleasant surgeries.
The working environment can sometimes be perceived as rattled and even overwhelming.  Many new nurse assistants often feel overwhelmed for the first 5 days on the job.  The first week can be defined as an indoctrination period where the new CNA is getting familiar with the fast working pace of the assisted care environment.

You will regularly come across situations that are very challenging.  The stress that an results from these challenges can sometimes make you feel like you can’t handle the job any longer.  If you are a compassionate person with a need to help nurture others, you will most likely process these unique challenges in a positive way.

Likewise, a CNA is required to exercise a high degree of patience too.  There will no doubt be times when you may feel like to have made the wrong career choice.  However, these instances of career remorse are short lived when you begin to realize the enormous difference you are making in the lives of those in need.  The job itself can really be described as a higher calling.  In many ways, you are called upon to provide the tender care these people need to help sustain their lives.

Like other professions in the medical field such as nursing assistants that are employed in emergency rooms, paramedics, or trauma specialists, the working environment can and will often change on a dime.  After you have been on the job for a least 30 days, you will begin to feel more relaxed and at ease.  The rewards of the job will be more than a source of income that pays the bills.  You will start experiencing a sense of fulfillment and a renewed sense of pride as you carry out the daily functions of a nurse assistant. How To Become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

You might be asking the same questions that many ask and that is what type of training does a person have to go through in order to receive their certification as a certified nurse assistant.  Really, it is deiniately not that hard.  At this point you should know that different states may have individual requirements to become certified. 

The issues that may affect you are the time it takes to go to school, testing and examination process, and the type of environment you’d prefer to be employed in. Just keep in mind that when you are exploring this as an exciting career opportunity, that Certified Nursing Assistant are often called many names which are widely known throughout the industry.  In some medical environments CNA’s can be referred to as Nurse Aids while in some elder care facilities or nursing homes they may be called Patient Care Technicians or Patient Care Technicians and even Home Health Aids.  It all depends on the state where you live. 

Regardless of where you live and work, before you are allowed to take on a job as a CNA, you will have to undergo a screening process that consists of a criminal background check and all appropriate drug screening.  This is now required since you will be employed in a work environment taking care of those who cannot care for themselves.
